A novel edition of the periodic table of Mendeleev :
Travelling towards the history of chemistry and help fighting cancer
The periodic table of the elements of Mendeleev 2019 – Strasbourg – Cronenbourg, France, edited by Maria Susai ANTONY, Ph.D., D.Sc, is available. The amount of the sale of this table (in English) is entirely given to the association « Alsace against cancer ».
The specificity of this table lies in the precision of the atomic weight and the corresponding historical and etymological elements (Ex : element 63, Europium).
- Each element is in a rectangle of 26 x 21 mm², and described by its physicochemical properties.
- The table contains 118 elements from hydrogen to Oganesson, with for the first time to our knowledge, the place of discovery of the artificial elements 113 to 118.
- The model of the table respects the one imposed by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
- The etymological and historical aspect of the element is new.
The table provides a multicolored mosaic appearance and is printed in 2 x A4 format on glossy paper, folded in the middle. The selling price is 5 euros per unit and is VAT free.
This achievement results from a human and scientific adventure and a team work including Maria Susai ANTONY, Jean-Bernard BUEB, Benoit SPECKEL and Fabien HOELLINGER.
Their motivation is summed up in a quote from Ludwig van Beethoven:
« It comes from the heart, may it go to the heart. »
